dc.description.abstractThis essay studies a method to quantize the radiation electromagnetic field in the Coulomb gauge, starting of classical electromagnetism of Maxwell's equations and imposing the commutation rules. It also studies the concept of photon as an excitation of the field and some of its properties. Finally, the results are applied to construct states of definite total angular momentum and the study of coherent states of the electromagnetic field.ca
