(cat) Les grans dades han esdevingut un concepte molt popular en el segle XXI, gràcies a les grans
onades d’informació que disposem avui dia. El Big Data està transformant les nostres vides.
Tot i això, encara no existeix una definició rigorosa del concepte. Aquest article ofereix una
reflexió sobre les potencialitats i les limitacions de les grans dades, a partir d’una anàlisi de la
bibliografia existent al voltant d’aquestes. A més, es presenten alguns dels elements clau en
les grans dades com la dadificació, les correlacions o els algorismes, per tal d’ajudar a entendre
el Big Data. En aquest article es fa especial menció a la pèrdua de privacitat i a la discriminació
que poden estar vinculades a les grans dades. A partir d’aquest discurs us convido a reflexionar
sobre el món de les grans dades. Un tema candent actualment però que encara s’està definint.
(eng) Big Data has become a very popular concept in the Twenty-First Century, thanks to the huge waves of information that we have today. Big Data is transforming our lives. However, there is not yet a rigorous definition of the concept. This article tries to offer a reflection on the potentialities and limitations of Big Data, from an analysis of the existing literature on the area. In addition, some key elements in the Big Data arena are discussed such as datafication, correlations or algorithms, in order to help to understand the Big Data. This paper, particularly focuses on the loss of privacy and discrimination that can be linked to Big Data. From this perspective, I invite you to reflect on the world of Big Data. A hot topic at the moment, but that is still being defined.
