[spa] El presente trabajo, como herramienta introductoria en el conocimiento de la técnica fotográfica de
positivado a la albúmina; aborda aspectos históricos, matéricos, procesos y procedimientos de
elaboración, mecanismos de degradación de la imagen y las posibles vías de su conservación.
Mediante el análisis teórico, experimentación y estudio de casos; se vertebra un documento básico para la comprensión y preservación de este Bien Cultural.
Las impresiones a la albúmina son el producto de la técnica fotográfica que positiva la imagen por contacto directo del negativo con papel, preparado con una solución salina y clara de huevo antes de ser sensibilizado.
Su uso extendido en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX hace de éste patrimonio una entidad susceptible de
localizarse prácticamente en cualquier institución gestora de Bienes Culturales, haciendo imprescindible su estudio y significación.
[eng] The current paper, as an introductory resource on the knowledge of the albumen printing process, addresses historical aspects, characterization, processing and printing procedures, image deterioration patterns and possible ways of conservation. Through theoretical analysis, experimentation and case studies; a basic document for the understanding and preservation of this Cultural Heritage is structured. The albumen print material consists of a paper support coated with egg white mixed with a saline solution, and then sensitized before exposed in contact with a negative in sunlight. Because of the dominance of the albumen print material in photographic practice in the second half of nineteenth century, albumen prints can be founded nowadays in practically any Cultural Heritage institution, which makes its study and signification essential.
