Creative Industries in Developing Countries. The Film Industry in China

Abstract

(eng)This study is about the development of the Chinese movie industry through the economic and political opening of the country, from 1979 to 2015. It analyzes, in the first place, the demographic changes, as well as the economic and political ones in order to understand the environment in which the movie industry is found. Later on, it overviews the main regulations that have shaped the industry and finally, it goes deep into the business of moviemaking through the analysis of the studio system, the main filmmakers and the use of censorship as a protectionist measure for its cultural assets.

(spa)Este estudio trata del desarrollo de la industria del cine en China a través de la apertura política y económica del país, desde 1979 a 2015. Examina, en primer lugar, los cambios demográficos que ha habido en el país, como también los económicos y los políticos para llegar a entender el entorno en el que se ha desarrollado la industria del cine. A continuación, revisa las más importantes regulaciones que han forjado la industria y finalmente será posible analizar más en profundidad la industria del cine a través del sistema de estudios, los directores principales y el uso de la censura como medida proteccionista para sus bienes culturales.
