[spa] El presente artículo cuenta la pequeña historia del Parado de Valldemossa, la agrupación de música, baile e indumentaria tradicional que nació como espectáculo turístico en 1915 y con el tiempo se consagró como modelo oficial de baile regional mallorquín ya en los años treinta. En primer lugar, se analiza cómo la convergencia de los deseos turísticos de las celebridades viajeras con los intereses políticos de las elites locales desembocó en la imaginación de un paraíso apolítico de armonía social a partir del que prevenir la politización del campesinado en un momento de profunda angustia e inestabilidad. En segundo término, explica como este imaginario trascendió a norma social a través de su performatividad corporal en un espectáculo de baile en pleno proceso de nacionalización y oficialización gubernamental. Finalmente, se cuenta cómo las clases populares locales, emplazadas a performativizar el estereotipo del campesino conformista y apolítico, se resistieron a asumir esta identidad asignada y consiguieron reproducir su propia subjetividad política de forma autónoma.
[eng] This article tells the short history of the Parado de Valldemossa, the traditional music, dance and costume group that was born as a tourist show in 1915 and established itself as the official model of Mallorcan regional dance in the 1930s. Firstly, it explains how the convergence of the tourist desires of travelling celebrities with the political interests of the local elites led to the proposal of an apolitical paradise of social harmony from which to prevent the politicisation of the peasantry at a time of anguish and profound instability. Secondly, it explains how this imaginary transcended into social norm through its bodily performativity in a dance show amid a process of governmental officialization and nationalisation. Finally, it tells how the local popular classes, who were forced to performativise the stereotype of the conformist and apolitical peasant, resisted assuming this assigned identity and managed to reproduce their own political subjectivity in an autonomous way.
