Hacer ciudad

Abstract

[spa] Barcelona es una ciudad que ha sabido aprovechar los grandes eventos internacionales como grandes oportunidades para “hacer ciudad” y tiene mucho que enseñar al mundo en cuanto a buenas prácticas en materia de arquitectura, urbanismo y diseño urbano. Con este trabajo se pretende estudiar la manera de concebir y obrar en la ciudad del arquitecto catalán Jordi Henrich y sus equipos de trabajo, responsables de importantes intervenciones urbanas en la ciudad de Barcelona y su área metropolitana, gracias a las cuales la ciudad se ha ido transformando considerablemente y principalmente ha vuelto a mirar al mar. Y al decir “hacer ciudad” nos referimos a la creación de espacio público, el “espacio de la gente”, “para la gente” y “con la gente”. Al estudiar su “forma de concepción y trabajo sobre el espacio público”, se intenta aprender de sus luces y de sus sombras para poder “rescatar” ciertos criterios de diseño urbano que guían su actuar en Barcelona que se podrían “adoptar”, para luego “adaptar” a otras ciudades, específicamente en las ciudades de mi país, Paraguay. Finalmente, se tomará como caso de estudio un conjunto de intervenciones urbanas realizadas en el sistema de espacios públicos del Port Vell, espacio público significativo de la ciudad de Barcelona, por ser un crisol de situaciones urbanas.

[eng] Barcelona is a city that has taken advantage of major international events as great opportunities to “make city” and has much to teach the world in terms of good practices in architecture, urban planning and urban design. This work aims to study how to work in the city of the Catalan architect Jordi Henrich and their work teams, responsible for important urban interventions in the city of Barcelona and its metropolitan area, thanks to which the city has been transformed considerably and mainly has returned to look at the sea. And by saying “make city” we mean the creation of public space, the “space of the people”, “for the people” and “with the people”. So what is sought with this research is to know their way of conceiving public spaces in their various interventions within the existing urban fabric. By studying its “form of conception and work on public space”, we try to learn from its lights and its shadows in order to “rescue” certain urban design criteria implemented in Barcelona that could be “adopted” and then “adapted” to other cities, specifically in the cities of my country, Paraguay. Finally, a set of urban interventions carried out in the system of public spaces of Port Vell, as a melting pot of urban situations, a significant public space of the city of Barcelona, will be taken as a case study.
