Los omnipresentes entornos digitales se han abierto paso en la enseñanza. De este modo, las wikis son una herramienta que se utiliza cada vez más a menudo en el aula de lenguas extranjeras. Sin embargo, sus efectos sobre la adquisición de léxico especializado apenas han sido mesurados. El presente estudio viene a suplir esta carencia al investigar el impacto del uso de las wikis en la adquisición de léxico especializado de los negocios entre estudiantes de la Universidad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales de Viena cursando la asignatura Comunicación económica en lengua extranjera III - Español. Los resultados de la prueba evaluativa de léxico de los negocios realizada a los 14 estudiantes del grupo experimental y a los 19 alumnos del grupo de control permitieron demostrar que el primer grupo tuvo un rendimiento superior. Queda así probado que esta herramienta colaborativa puede beneficiar tanto a los profesores como a los alumnos al permitir una mejora de la competencia léxica más rápida.
The ubiquitous digital environment has made its way into teaching. Therefore, wikis are a tool that is used more and more in the foreign language classrooms. However, their effects on the acquisition of specialised vocabulary have hardly been measured. The present study comes to fill this gap by investigating the impact of the use of wikis in the acquisition of specialised business vocabulary among students taking the subject Economic Communication in a Foreign Language III - Spanish at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The results of the test carried out to evaluate the acquisition of business vocabulary among the 14 students of the experimental group and the 19 students of the control group were able to demonstrate that the first group outperformed the second. It is thus proved that this collaborative tool can benefit both teachers and students by enabling a faster improvement in the lexical competence.
