dc.description.abstractWe study the radiation reaction force in electrodynamics, reviewing a derivation of the Lorentz-Dirac equation. Then we treat the case of a non-relativistic binary system, which becomes unstable due to the radiation reaction force, and study the evolution of its orbital parameters and the decay time. Finally, we solve the relativistic case numerically and compare it with the non relativistic behaviourca
