Abstract
En els estudis realitzats abans dels anys quaranta, amb plantes superiors i Drosophila, el gen era considerat com l’unitat hereditària que controlava un caràcter fenotípic. Es coneixia que els gens podien mutar a noves formes o al·lels i les noves combinacions d'al·lels de tipus salvatge i mutant, localitzats en posicions diferents en els cromosomes, eren el resultat del entrecreuament o «Crossing over» entre cromosomes homòlegs...
