Abstract
[eng] Analysis of the last monolog of Achenbach in order to explain the problematic nature of the German bourgeois artist from the beginning of the 20th century. This problem appears in the work of Mann with mythological metaphors of psychological processes (such as “Wiederkehr des Verdrängten”). The analysis is based on the sociological current of literature from Marxist theories, particularly the work of Georg Lúkacs. It tries to shed light on the difficulty of combining the bourgeois way of life with the artistic experience. The exposition talks also about two more subjects: the specific Realism of the writer Thomas Mann, and the symbology of the book focusing on the idea of leit motiv.
