[eng] The present research project aims to study the perceptions teachers of Spanish as a second language have about themselves as teachers and about their students. This study also researches the manifestation of cultural conflicts in the classroom, as well as the ways Spanish teachers address them. To this end, twelve interviews with volunteer Spanish teachers have been carried out. Subsequently, the interviews have been transcribed following a qualitative and thematic analysis. In this way, the image the teachers have of their students, the self-perception and their teaching skills have been examined. Moreover, the presence or absence of cultural conflicts has been analysed.
The research reveals a lack of information about the necessity of managing conflicts and addressing interculturality in the classroom. Also, a tendency of seeing the student in terms of needs, as well as an altered vision of the students due to the stereotypes and prejudices that teachers come with have been demonstrated.
