Dentro de la Viquipèdia existe un conflicto entre los usuarios que arrastra desde la
década pasada en relación con la categorización por género. En el presente trabajo,
abarcaremos tres objetivos. En primer lugar, realizaremos un análisis de las discusiones
en torno a este debate, y a su posterior resolución, para tratar de entender el motivo que
ha llevado al rechazo continuo de esta propuesta en contraste con otras Wikipedias. En
segundo lugar, estudiaremos las razones por las que se mantienen o eliminan las
biografías de una muestra genérica de 50 personas, mitad hombres y mitad mujeres. Y
finalmente, pretendemos ofrecer una propuesta de categorización sencilla y automática
para posibilitar la creación de una categoría de mujeres que ayude a la visibilización de
las mujeres dentro de la enciclopedia. Con todo ello, demostraremos que la brecha de
género es muy acentuada en lo que se refiere a la participación femenina, que existen
muchas dificultades para la permanencia de la presencia femenina en los contenidos de
Viquipèdia, y de que los argumentos que sostienen el continuo rechazo de la categoría
pueden ser más cercanos a un producto ideológico más allá de las políticas de Wikipedia.
Within Viquipèdia there is a conflict among users that has been going on for the past decade in relation to categorisation by gender. In this paper, we will cover three objectives. Firstly, we will carry out an analysis of the discussions surrounding this debate, and its subsequent resolution, in order to try to understand the reason that has led to the continued rejection of this proposal in contrast to other Wikipedias. Secondly, we will study the reasons for keeping or removing the biographies of a generic sample of 50 people, half men and half women. And finally, we intend to offer a simple and automatic categorisation proposal to enable the creation of a women's category that helps the visibility of women within the encyclopaedia. With all this, we will demonstrate that the gender gap is very accentuated in terms of female participation, that there are many difficulties for the permanence of the female presence in the contents of Viquipèdia, and that the arguments that sustain the continuous rejection of the category may be closer to an ideological product beyond Wikipedia's policies.
