This work aims to study the elastocaloric effect in a Cu-Al-Zn shape memory alloy sample. The elastocaloric effect refers to the reversible thermal response (isothermal entropy change, or adiabatic temperature change) of a body when subjected to a uniaxial stress. To measure the entropy change of the martensitic transformation, differential scanning calorimetry technique has been used. The calorimeter is capable to work under magnetic fields and the calibration of the calorimetric system is also presented. We obtain a maximum value for the stress-induced entropy change of 22,35 J/kg·𝐾−1 within the temperature range between 32ºC and 41ºC and an applied stress of 32,17 MPa.ca
