Abstract

La capacitat lingüística forma part intrínseca de la humanitat. Malgrat sovint el seu estudi s'aborda des de la perspectiva filològica, social i cultural, per poder-la manifestar cal també un cervell complex i un òrgan fonador adequat. En aquest article s'exposa quin és l'origen evolutiu d'aquesta capacitat en el context del llinatge humà, quines àrees del cervell hi estan implicades i quina és la contribució genètica; es distingeix entre la capacitat lingüística d'origen biològic i l'aprenentatge cultural dels idiomes concrets; s'emfasitza especialment la seva relació amb altres característiques humanes com la manipulació manual fina, la creativitat i l'autoconsciència, i es discuteix quina relació pot tenir tot això amb l'existència d'un hipotètic lliure albir. Language capacity is an intrinsic part of humanity. Despite its study has been often approached from the philological, social and cultural perspectives, a complex brain and proper phonation organ are also needed. This paper shows the evolutionary origin of this capacity in the context of the human lineage, as well as what areas of the brain are involved and what is the genetic contribution; it also distinguishes between biological linguistic capabilities and cultural learning of specific languages; emphasized its relationship with other human characteristics such as delicate manual handling, creativity and self-awareness, and discusses the relationship all this items may have on the hypothetical existence of free will.
