Abstract

This study analyzes the Diurnal Surface Urban Heat Island (DSUHI) across four Catalan cities (Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, and Lleida) from 2020 to 2024. A workflow combining QGIS and R is used to process Landsat 8/9 imagery, calculating Land Surface Temperature (LST) to estimate urban-rural thermal differentials. The main contribution is a reproducible methodology for DSUHI analysis, which also compares LST results derived from Landsat Level-1 and Level-2 data. Findings highlight key differences in DSUHI characteristics among the cities and the implications of using different data processing levels.
