In this TFG we review the Linear-Quadratic (LQ) model of cell survival to ionizing radiation and the concept of biological effective dose (BED). We will explain the effect of dose protraction and incomplete damage repair, cell repopulation, the kind of radiation and oxygenation, and how to introduce them into the LQ model and the BED
