Abstract
[cat] El present treball proposa un enfocament crític i sistemàtic al principi de reversibilitat aplicat a la
codicologia de la conservació-restauració. El criteri de reversibilitat roman, des del moment de la seva
introducció a l'Informe Murray Pease (1964), sense ser definit oficialment per cap institució. Això ha
donat lloc a multitud d'estudis i interpretacions sobre la qüestió. La literatura evidencia les dificultats
per arribar a un acord no només de cara a la interpretació d’ un criteri tan abstracte sinó també de
cara a la seva aplicabilitat. La interaccionisme entre ciències naturals i socials juga un paper
especialment rellevant en l'àmbit de la conservació-restauració del patrimoni cultural i entra en
conflicte especialment en la definició d'aquest criteri. L'objectiu d'aquesta recerca consisteix a donar
un nou enfoc a la qüestió. La metodologia de treball es basa en una revisió bibliogràfica centrada en
la literatura especialitzada per a l’anàlisi teòric del concepte, complementada per entrevistes de cara
a l'anàlisi pràctica dels tractaments i a l'aplicació empírica del criteri. L’aportació innovadora ve
donada per la construcció d'una rúbrica com a model semiquantitatiu basat en paràmetres científics
orientats a donar suport als professionals en la presa de decisions i els debats ètics implicats en la
pràctica de la conservació-restauració.
[eng] This thesis presents a critical and systematic approach to the principle of reversibility applied to conservation-restoration’s codicology. The criterion remains, from the moment of its introduction in the Murray Pease Report (1964), not officially defined by any institution. This has lead to multitude of studies and interpretations on the matter. Literature evidence the difficulties on coming to terms not only with such an abstract context but also with different perceptions coming from diferent academic feilds. The interaccionism between natural and social sciences takes plays a rellevant role in the feild of conservation-restoration of cultural heritage and enters in conflict specially in the definition of this criterion. The aim of this research consists of giving a new aproach to the matter by exploring both specialised literature as theoretical resources, and practical analysis of treatments and the empiric application of the criterion. The new aproach is given by the construction of a rubric as a semiquantitative model grounded in scientific parameters oriented towards giving support to professionals on the decision-making and ethical debates involved in the conservation-restoration practice.
