El siguiente estudio tiene como propósito explorar potenciales diferencias por razón de
género que puedan existir entre las mujeres y los hombres que comparten reseñas de libros
de fantasía y ciencia ficción a través de la plataforma de YouTube, también conocidas y
conocidos como booktubers, tanto a nivel de discurso, narración, confección de vídeos y uso
de metadatos. Para localizar estas posibles diferencias se ha tomado una muestra de 8
canales —4 de mujeres y 4 de hombres— y 80 vídeos —10 por canal. Se ha realizado un
análisis cuantitativo y un análisis cualitativo, siguiendo una aproximación reflexiva del
análisis temático y se han extraído conclusiones que reflejan la existencia de algunas
diferencias entre ambos géneros.
This study’s purpose is to explore the potential differences defined by gender that might exist between the women and the men who share fantasy and sci-fi book’s reviews on YouTube —also known as booktubers— within their discourse, narration, video making and metadata use. In order to find these possible differences 8 channels —4 women and 4 men— and 80 videos —10 per channel— have been selected as samples. The channels and videos have been used for quantitative and qualitative analysis, based on a reflexive approach for a Thematic Analysis, and conclusions reflect that there are some differences between women and men.
