In this work we study firstly the general properties of wormholes in classical general relativity, and the constraints the metric must satisfy to support such structures. We will then describe some examples of classical solutions and find the issues they have before finally delving into more recent studies that show wormhole solutions supported by quantum fields and consistent with all known physical principles
