[cat] El sector vitivinícola català ha estat tradicionalment exportador. Tanmateix, durant el segle XX ha patit problemes derivats de les crisis de sobreproducció, primer, i de la política econòmica franquista, després. A partir de mitjan la dècada de 1960 els vins catalans van començar a recuperar el seu pols exportador agafant una tendència creixent que s'ha accentuat notablement a partir de l'entrada d'Espanya a la Comunitat Econòmica Europea. La represa exportadora i el seu èxit respon als canvis que el sector elaborador ha dut a terme per tal d'adaptar-se a les noves situacions que els mercats reclamaven. En aquest sentit, s'han introduït innovacions de producte, innovacions de procés i s'ha produït un canvi notable en el model d'empresa. El motor principal de tots aquests canvis ha estat el cava.

All the same, in the course of the twentieth century it experienced problems derived from overproduction crises, first, and from Franco's economic policies, later. In the mid Sixties Catalan wines began to regain their exporting momentum in an increasing trend given added impetus by Spain's joining of the EEC. This was the result of the changes producers made in order to adapt themselves to the renewed demands of the markets. There were innovations both in the products and in the production process and a remarkable change in company organization and presentation. The leader in all these changes was the cava sector.
