Resum
Program for the concert "A repertoire to discover from classicism to jazz: salon music in Barcelona between 1800 and 1920," held June 18, 2026, at the Aula Magna, Faculty of Philosophy, Geography, and History, University of Barcelona.
The document includes detailed information on four pieces from the musical heritage collection recovered from the Rare Book and Manuscript CRAI Library, as well as biographies of the performers and explanatory texts by Oriol Brugarolas and Antonio Ezquerro, members of the Research Group for the Study of Musical Heritage-UB (GEPAM). The content analyzes the transformation of Barcelona's musical taste, from late classicism to the emergence of jazz, reflecting the shift of music from religious spaces to bourgeois salons and dance halls.
This publication and the concert are part of the activities commemorating the 575th anniversary of the University of Barcelona and the "Catalan University Libraries Erasmus Staff Week 2026", which is being organized by the CSUC
