dc.description.abstractWithin the framework of Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetime we obtain a Running Vacuum Model (RVM) by considering a scalar field nonminnimally coupled to gravity. With the aid of this result, we derive the equation of state of the quantum vacuum in the early universe, where it is close to wvac = −1, and in the FLRW regime, where remarkably it evolves adopting radiation, dust and quintessence behaviours. Finally, we discuss the RVM inflation mechanism.ca
