Familias al límite: itinerarios inciertos, tutelas truncadas y género (Barcelona, 1684-1750)

Abstract

[esp] A partir de las experiencias familiares de quienes entraron a corta edad en la Casa de misericordia de Barcelona, entre los finales del siglo XVII y la primera mitad de la siguiente centuria, se analizan las dinámicas de dependencia y tutela femenina. La supervivencia modifica la autoridad, pero no la elimina, y, así, los grupos sociales en situación de riesgo y exclusión se vinculan a la red asistencial que representa la mencionada institución, transfiriendo a esta, parte de las responsabilidades inherentes a tutelar doncellas. El control y protección sobre ellas transitará entre la familia y la sociedad.

[eng] Based on the family experiences of those who entered in the Casa de Misericordia in Barcelona at a young age, between the end of the 17th century and the first half of the following century, the dynamics of dependency and female guardianship are analyzed. Survival modifies authority but does not eliminate it, and thus the groups are linked to the assistance network represented by this institution, transferring to this part the responsibilities inherent to the guardianship of the young women. Control and protection over these will pass between the family and society.
