[spa] Los eufemismos consisten en la sustitución de un vocablo tabú cuya pronunciación
transgrede una “ley social”. Son un mecanismo léxico usado para poder hacer referencia
a esta palabra “prohibida” sin mencionarla. Por esta razón, han sido considerados un tipo
de metáfora por muchos lingüistas ya que representan una realidad a través de otras
palabras; es decir, tiene lugar una traslación de significado. Igual que las metáforas, el
uso de ciertos eufemismos ha devenido tan común, que la voz eufemística ha absorbido
la nueva acepción para referirse al tabú. En algunos casos, incluso, ha perdido su
significado literal original y ha adoptado el nuevo. El objetivo de este trabajo es observar
la presencia de estas voces en dos diccionarios (el Diccionario de Autoridades y el
Diccionario de la lengua española) y comparar las acepciones.

They are lexical mechanisms which the speaker uses in order to be able to refer to that “forbidden” term without pronouncing it. For this reason, many linguists have considered them a type of metaphor, as they represent a reality through other words; that is, they translate an idea, a meaning. Like metaphors, the use of certain euphemisms has become so common that the euphemistic expression has absorbed the new meaning which refers to the taboo. In some cases, the term has even lost its original literal meaning and it has adopted the new one. The goal of this work is to observe the presence of these words and locutions in two dictionaries (the Diccionario de Autoridades and the Diccionario de la lengua española) and compare the definitions they both show.
