dc.description.abstractBlack holes in four dimensions have to be topologically spherical, dynamically stable and uniquely characterized by their conserved charges. In higher dimensions, black holes are less constrained. Black hole solutions have been found with non-spherical horizon topology, and the same conserved charges can describe different types of black objects. This work presents a study of known exact black hole solutions in higher dimensions: the generalization of the Schwarzschild and Kerr metric (Schwarzschild-Tangherlini and Myers-Perry rotating in a single plane) and a brief introduction to black p-branes.ca
