L'exportació de draps a Sicília segons la comptabilitat de la família Amat (1638-1644)

[cat] La relació comercial basada en el blat sicilià i les manufactures catalanes va subsistir fins ben entrada la Guerra dels Segadors. Les exportacions fetes pels comerciants Amat entre 1638 i 1644 demostren que Sicília era encara una destinació important per als teixits catalans fins i tot en època de conflictes. La capacitat de resistència d'aquest comerç per afrontar les dificultats internes d'aquests anys manca de mà d'obra i de capitals, escassetat de matèries primeres, inflació monetària i desarticulació del mercat intern és la manifestació de la importància que havien tingut aquests intercanvis, el caràcter regular de les exportacions i el desenvolupat nivell i grau d'articulació de la draperia catalana. Els mecanismes comercials i l'estructura productiva del primer terç del sis-cents constituirien una valuosa herència que fonamentaria la puixança econòmica del segle XVIII.

[eng] The commercial interchange of Sicilian wheat and Catalan draperies subsisted until the start of the Guerra dels Segadors (1640-1652). The exports by the family Amat merchants between 1638 and 1644 show that Sicily was still an important destination for Catalan drapery even during the initial years of this conflict. The endurance of this trade in overcoming the Catalan economic difficulties of these years lack of workers and capital, scarcity of raw materials, monetary inflation, and dislocation of the internal market is a good evidence of the importance that these interchanges had had, of the regular pattern of exportations, of the developed level and high articulation of Catalan drapery. The commercial structure and productive mechanisms during the first third of the sixteenth century constituted a valuable foundation for the economic dynamism of the eighteen century.
