Resum

Floating offshore wind is considered one of the most promising technologies for expanding renewable energy generation in countries with deep coastal waters, such as Spain. This Master's Thesis presents a preliminary techno-economic assessment of three representative offshore wind farm locations: Bilbao-Vizcaya, Villano-Sisargas and Las Palmas Este. The study includes wind resource characterization, metocean and bathymetric analysis, technology selection, preliminary wind farm design, and the estimation of annual energy production (AEP), capital expenditure (CAPEX), operational expenditure (OPEX) and levelized cost of energy (LCOE). The results show that water depth is the main factor influencing the economic feasibility of offshore wind projects, as it directly affects the support structure and installation costs. Bilbao-Vizcaya provides the most favourable balance between energy production and investment cost, while Las Palmas Este represents a competitive alternative. Although Villano-Sisargas has the highest wind resource, its greater water depth results in higher LCOE values. Overall, the results confirm the strong potential of floating offshore wind for the future development of offshore renewable energy in Spain
