Trabajar de guía local en una ciudad del sur de Europa: una mirada desde las geografías feministas

[spa] Este artículo trata sobre la organización socioespacial del trabajo en la sociedad actual, tomando el empleo como guía local, es decir, la interpretación del patrimonio de una ciudad para sus visitantes, como caso de estudio. La perspectiva analítica es doble: a la vez nutrida por el pensamiento feminista y la teoría de la producción del espacio. La dimensión empírica se basa en la realización de 14 entrevistas en profundidad que se llevaron a cabo en Sevilla con el objetivo de conocer las condiciones de trabajo de las personas que ejercen esta actividad laboral en la ciudad, así como la relación que desarrollan con el espacio urbano en el que la llevan a cabo. Los resultados apuntan en el mismo sentido que la literatura considerada en el marco teórico: las mujeres experimentan relaciones de desigualdad ejerciendo de guía local, concretamente en lo que concierne a las tareas de reproducción social y el trabajo encarnado en las calles de la ciudad. Todo ello se desarrolla en un espacio urbano turistificado, construido a conciencia en las últimas décadas, que se sostiene gracias al trabajo precario ejercido en mayor medida por mujeres, muchas de ellas racializadas. Se trata, pues, de una precariedad estructural que se vive de forma interescalar: desde lo más íntimo de la escala corporal hasta la inserción de Andalucía en la división espacial del trabajo a escala europea.
[eng] This article deals with the socio-spatial organization of labor today, taking employment as a local guide, that is, the interpretation of a city's heritage for its visitors, as a case study. The analytical perspective is twofold: both nourished by feminist thought and the theory of the production of space. The empirical dimension is based on 14 in-depth interviews carried out in Seville with the aim of finding out about the working conditions of the people who are employed as local guides in the city, as well as the relationship they develop with the urban space in which they carry it out. The results point in the same direction as the literature considered in the theoretical framework: women experience relations of inequality working as local guides, specifically regarding the tasks of social reproduction and the embodied work in the streets of the city. All this takes place in a touristified urban space, consciously built in the last decades, which is sustained by precarious work exercised to a greater extent by women, many of them racialized. It is, therefore, a structural precarity that is experienced in an interscalar way: from the most intimate of the corporal scale to the insertion of Andalusia in the spatial division of labor on a European scale.
