[cat]Raimon de Penyafort fou una de les figures més destacades del segle XIII en matèria política, jurídica i eclesiàstica. Aquest treball es centrarà en el tractament que ha rebut aquesta insigne personalitat des de diferents punts de vista: com a sant de l’Església Catòlica, entrant per tant en matèria hagiogràfica tot repassant-ne la devoció i projecció; com a jurista, doncs la seva empremta intel·lectual en matèria jurídica li valgué el patronatge de l’advocacia i les seves contribucions van resultar vitals per al desenvolupament del dret canònic; com a confessor i conseller d’una altra figura cabdal del seu temps com fou el rei Jaume I i la influència que hi exercí; i finalment com a inquisidor, doncs a més de ser el segon successor de Sant Domènec de Guzmán al capdavant de l’Orde de Predicadors, tingué un paper clau en la implantació de la Inquisició a Catalunya.
[eng]Raimon de Penyafort was one of the most prominent figures of the 13th century in political, legal and ecclesiastical matters. This work will focus on the treatment that this distinguished personality has received from different points of view: as a saint of the Catholic Church, therefore entering into hagiographic matters while reviewing its devotion and projection; as a jurist, his intellectual imprint on legal matters earned him the patronage of the legal profession and his contributions proved vital for the development of canon law; as a confessor and adviser to another key figure of his time such as king James I and the influence he exerted on him; and finally as an inquisitor, as well as being the second successor to Saint Dominic of Guzmán at the head of the Order of Preachers, he played a key role in the implementation of the Inquisition in Catalonia.
