Since before the Renaissance the rules for doing perspective drawings were known, obtaining representations of the reality just like a well placed observer’s eye would perceive it. We use our knowledge of extended projective geometry to study the basis of these rules. We obtain some of the basic properties of perspective drawings and learn how to construct simple examples. Finally, we apply this knowledge to a practical exercise, namely to study the perspective in some Canaletto’s paintings.ca
