Abstract
[eng] In this Final Degree Project I analyze the importance of the work of a contemporary American novelist, David Vann, and relate it to the Attic tragedy phenomenon, of great influence, especially in one of his last books: Black Air Bright. Based on this, his second novel Caribou Island and Medea by Euripides, mu project explores the meaning of tragedy in the 5th century B. C. and nowadays, relying on a bibliography that includes, among others, Nietzsche, Lesky and Engels. Vann is a writer who explores the concept of autobiography, and his resistance to being part of a performance system like the American system is taken to such extremes (going against agents, publishers, family; changing nationality...) that substantially influences both his work and its reception.
