Resum

[eng] This project is a study of the existing problematic in tertiary technical studies, which have an alarming small share of women. The report is divided in two parts: a situation analysis and an empirical evidence, each of which will have different objectives. Throughout the project, we see how women’s and men’s interests in studies only differ in four areas: Health, Education, ICT and Engineering, and how these interests are caused by cultural aspects. For this reason, four variables are proposed to be analyzed through a linear regression: PIB per capita, household spending on tertiary education, share of women in tertiary studies and share of total students in technical degrees, in order to test if they are significant or not and, thus, if they have an effect on women’s choice to study technical degrees. Finally, the conclusions posed make a statement on how the problematic could be fixed based on the numerical results.
