Els gravats de Ricart per a L’Odissea

Abstract

[spa] Carles Riba i Bracons y Enric Cristòfol Ricart i Nin fueron los autores de la traducción de La Odissea al catalán entre 1947 y 1948. Carles Riba tradujo la obra del griego en dos volúmenes, mientras que Enric Cristòfol Ricart fue el encargado de ilustrar la obra con sus grabados al boj. A través de sus cartas, mantuvieron una comunicación constante, compartiendo dudas, dificultades en la edición y aspectos personales. Además de, por parte de Riba, proporcionar notas para facilitar el trabajo de Ricart y asistirlo con las ilustraciones. Inicialmente, su relación era complicada, ya que Riba exigía un progreso rápido en la elaboración de los grabados, mientras que Ricart no podía seguir el ritmo. Con el paso del tiempo y el avance de la obra, comenzaron a desarrollar mayor confianza mutua y a comprender mejor la forma de trabajar del otro. Carles Riba translated the work from Greek into two volumes, while Enric Cristòfol Ricart was responsible for illustrating the work with his boxwood engravings. Through their letters, they maintained constant communication, sharing doubts, difficulties in editing, and personal aspects. In addition, Riba provided notes to facilitate Ricart's work and assisted him with the illustrations. Initially, their relationship was complicated, as Riba demanded rapid progress in the elaboration of the engravings, while Ricart could not keep up. With the passage of time and the progress of the work, they began to develop greater mutual trust and to understand each other's way of working much better. Riba granted more freedom to Ricart, while the latter had the opportunity to employ his talent and imagination more fully.
