Ab urbe condita. Des de la fundació de la Ciutat

Abstract

[cat] Slum, és una paraula anglesa per designar una acumulació de vivendes petites, monòtones, i sense color on els treballadors passen les nits aparcats després de llargues jornades laborals. Aquestes barriades marginals neixen com a conseqüència de les demandes del model productiu fabril i són una amenaça per la ciutat, donat que aquestes aglomeracions humanes no tenen ànima; és a dir careixen d’escoles, hospitals, i altres equipaments que proveeixen d’identitat col·lectiva a una comunitat. Aquesta deshumanització de la ciutat correlaciona amb la desestructuració de la família en l’àmbit domèstic, i la dissociació i alienació en l’individu. La meva peça parla de l’habitant de la ciutat sense ànima, aquell qui dorm en un llit de ferro i formigó, i no ho fa allà on ell voldria, a l’extraradi, envoltat de natura com les classes altes sinó allà on aquestes li permeten, somiant una atzarosa sublevació per la dignitat, allà on les llambordes esdevenen trinxeres.

[eng] Slum designates an accumulation of small, monot-onous and colorless houses, where workers spend their nights parked after long days at work.These marginal neighborhoods are born as a result of the demands of the factory production model and they are a threat to the city, as these neighborhoods don’t have a human soul; ie they lack of schools, hos-pitals and other facilities that give a collective identity to a community. This dehumanization of the city is correlated with the breakdown of the family in the domestic sphere, and with the dissociation and alienation of the individual in the private sphere.My work speaks of the inhabitants of this city without soul. It speaks about those that sleep in beds of iron and concrete. It speaks about those that don’t sleep where they would like to do: on the outskirts, sur-rounded by nature, like the upper classes. It speaks for those that are forced to sleep where the upper classes allow them to do so, dreaming of a random revolt for dignity, where the cobblestones become trenches.
