[spa] En este estudio, se analizan aspectos concretos de las tramas de las novelas
norteamericanas Something Happened (1974) de Joseph Heller y The Marriage Plot
(2011) de Jeffrey Eugenides. Esta investigación se centra en aquellas tensiones
familiares y matrimoniales que generan la trama en ambas novelas, valiéndose de
teorías sociológicas sobre la familia de la segunda mitad del S.XX y de teoría de los
afectos, entre otras, como base para su análisis. A lo largo de este estudio, se enumeran
y desarrollan las tensiones principales de la trama y cómo estas dialogan con
convenciones genéricas tradicionales y con la fantasía de ‘la Familia Feliz’,
especialmente relevante para la época en las que se desarrollan.
[eng] This research is focused on family and marriage tensions presented on the plots of the North American novels Something Happened (1974) by Joseph Heller and The Marriage Plot (2011) by Jeffrey Eugenides. The investigation is carried out within 20th century sociological theories about the family as well as affect theory. Along the analysis, the main plot tensions are listed and developed, as well as their ‘dialogue’ with the traditional generic conventions and the so-called fantasy of the ‘Happy Family’.
