Abstract
a desarrollar.
(eng) This paper examines the labor participation in the Spanish labor market as a function of both individuals’ gender and other personal characteristics or variables conditioning this participation. Based on microdata obtained from the Encuesta de Población Activa (EPA), an active population survey, econometric models are estimated. Such models provide information on how different variables influence both genders differently and scrutinize the effects these variables have on employment’s quality. A time series of data concerning the evolution of these variables is here offered. This paper concludes that individual characteristics do affect both genders, but in a different way. Although in recent years the gap between employed men and women has diminished, it has been possible due to the fact that women work part-time, reconciling work and family life.
