[spa] Pese a la antigüedad de los flujos procedentes de África y al peso alcanzado por esta inmigración en España, su población, tanto en la agregación de los ciudadanos originarios del Norte de África como en la de los subsaharianos, presenta una importante brecha respecto a los nativos y al resto de la población inmigrada, tanto en las pautas residenciales como en la inserción laboral. En el presente artículo, tras dar cuenta del contexto de la distribución territorial y de la ocupación de la población africana en comparación a otros grupos continentales y a los nativos españoles por sexo, analiza la segregación residencial y laboral de los mismos durante el siglo XXI. Aunque no se puede establecer una relación causal entre la desigualdad económica y la segregación, se constata como, en el caso de la población africana, esta experimenta niveles más altos de segregación relacionados con peores condiciones laborales.
[eng] Despite the longstanding immigration inflows from Africa and the weight attained in Spain, the country's population displays, in the aggregation of citizens from both North and Sub-Saharan Africa, large gaps with respect to the native population and the rest of the immigrant population, in terms of their residential patterns and their labour insertion. !is article begins with a description of the context of the territorial and occupational distribution of the African population in comparison with other continental groups and native Spaniards by gender, and then goes on to analyse the residential and job segregation of that population during the 21st century. Although no causal relationship can be established between economic inequality and segregation, the African population undergoes higher levels of segregation related to their poorer working conditions.
