Abstract

Cervera became city the year 1701 thanks to the new monarch Philip V. This fact, together with the performance of the Paeria of Cervera at the end of the Succession’s War of the Spanish Crown, will create an improved state for the city. Philip V will tank to Cervera his supposed fidelity through several privileges; the most important of which will be to transfer all the university studies of the Principality of Catalonia to the city of Cervera. In this work I have pretended to know which were these privileges, how these ones conditioned the urban structure of the city and how they influenced in the daily life of the cerverins. Another finality of this work is to know why Cervera received more privileges than other cities like Berga, Manlleu or Centelles that also gave her support to Philip V.
