[spa] El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el rol maternal impuesto a las mujeres atenienses de la época clásica y el papel decisivo que estas tienen en la continuidad y el mantenimiento de la pólis de Atenas, pese a su marginación de la esfera pública y el poder. Con este fin se estudian la formación y la preparación de las mujeres desde la infancia hasta el matrimonio y su posterior maternidad, mediante el análisis de las fuentes escritas y arqueológicas, en especial los vasos cerámicos áticos.
[eng] The purpose of this work is to analyse the maternal role enforced to the Athenian women in the classic era and the vital role that they play in the continuity and maintenance of Athens, despite their marginalization from the public sphere and power. With this end in mind, the education and training of women, from childhood to marriage, and their subsequent motherhood are studied, through the analysis of written and archaeological sources, especially ceramic attic vessels.
