Relacions entre fotografia i pintura. Dos casos d'estudi: Gerhard Richter i Jeff Wall

Abstract

[cat] La tesi doctoral "Relacions entre fotografia i pintura. Dos casos d'estudi: Gerhard Richter i Jeff Wall" pretén estudiar algunes de les relacions que s'han establert entre el medi fotogràfic i el medi pictòric, basant-nos en el context de l'art que sorgeix a final dels anys seixanta i principis dels setanta, el qual trenca majoritàriament les premisses defensades per l'art modern tardà. Aquest canvi va permetre construir un espai de treball amb horitzons més amplis, fruit principalment de la hibridació dels diversos medis artístics. En la primera part de la tesi s'estudien tres conceptes que considerem clau per entendre aquest gir en l'àmbit artístic i que esdevenen paradigmes conceptuals essencials per moltes de les propostes artístiques del moment: la hibridació i contaminació entre els diferents medis artístics, l'al·legoria com a estratègia de creació, i l'aparició del concepte del simulacre, com a model substitutori de la realitat. Però l'estudi no se centra únicament en aquests tres conceptes de manera general, sinó que el gruix de la investigació se centra en l'estudi de dos casos artístics en concret: les propostes artístiques de Gerhard Richter i de Jeff Wall. Aquestes tres nocions travessen ambdues propostes artístiques i de fet, aquestes han funcionat en tot moment com a motor de l'estudi d'aquests canvis conceptuals que anteriorment haurem avançat. L'estudi intenta relacionar contínuament els conceptes estudiats amb la seva obra, establint possibles relacions que vagin més enllà de les dues propostes artístiques en si mateixes. Sent conscients que hauríem pogut treballar a partir de l'estudi d'altres artistes -alguns dels quals han estat presents durant el procés, s'ha preferit aprofundir en el treball de Richter i de Wall, per tal de trobar certes conclusions que ens permetin comprendre millor les seves propostes, però sobretot per tal de crear vincles conceptuals que es puguin contrastar amb altres experiències artístiques de diferents artistes, com també amb les nostres.

[eng] "RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN PHOTOGRAPHY AND PAINTING. TWO STUDY CASES: GERHARD RICHTER AND JEFF WALL". The doctoral thesis "Relationships between photography and painting. Two cases of study: Gerhard Richter i Jeff Wall" studies some of the relationships that have settled between the photographic media and the pictorial language, studying the context of the art that appears in end of the sixties and principles of the seventy, which breaks mostly the premises defended by the late modern art, being based on. This change allowed to construct a space of work with more extense horizons, fruit mainly of the hybridization of the several artistic environments. In the first part of the thesis we study three concepts that we consider important to understand this change in the artistic area: the hybridization among the different artistic languages, the allegory as a strategy of creation, and the appearance of the concept of the simulation, as a model of substitution of the reality. But the study doesn't focus only on these three concepts in a general way, but the thickness of the research focuses on the study of two artistic cases in particular: the artistic proposals of Gerhard Richter and of Jeff Wall. These three notions cross both artistic proposals and as a matter of fact, these have worked at all times as an engine of the study of these conceptual changes that formerly we will have advanced.
