Les col·leccions de proverbis de Ramon Llull: estudi de conjunt i edició dels "Mil proverbis" i i dels "Proverbis d’ensenyament"

Abstract

[cat] Aquest estudi té l’objectiu d’oferir una anàlisi de conjunt de la producció proverbial de Ramon Llull. L’autor mallorquí va escriure cinc col·leccions de proverbis entre la darrera dècada del s. XIII i la primera del s. XIV. Tres d’aquests reculls només contenen proverbis —els Proverbis de Ramon (1296), els Mil proverbis (1302) i els Proverbis d’ensenyament (1299-1301? 1309?)—, mentre que l’Arbre exemplifical (1295-1296) està format per narracions breus i proverbis, i la Retòrica nova (1301) és un tractat que, en un apartat sobre el proverbi, inclou un petit recull de mostra de cinquanta unitats. Per dur a terme l’anàlisi, en primer lloc s’ha explorat els trets de la literatura gnòmica i sapiencial medieval, amb una especial atenció als recursos d’estructuració que s’utilitzen per organitzar els materials de les col·leccions i als seus contextos de recepció. D’altra banda, també s’ha repassat l’estatus teòric del proverbi i la sentència en la tradició retòrica medieval. A continuació, s’ha contextualitzat les col·leccions de proverbis lul·lianes en el marc de l’evolució de l’obra i el pensament de l’autor, i s’ha constatat que el període de producció dels reculls de proverbis coincideix amb una efervescència de la formulació sentenciosa i aforística en l’obra de Llull. Finalment, s’han analitzat les obres que formen part del corpus de forma monogràfica, centrant-se en el context de redacció, l’estructura, la forma dels proverbis, la finalitat i, en alguns casos, la recepció de cada una de les col·leccions. D’altra banda, una part important de la tesi està dedicada a oferir una edició crítica dels Mil proverbis i els Proverbis d’ensenyament. Cal remarcar que en el cas del primer text es tracta de la primera edició que ha tingut en compte tota la tradició manuscrita conservada.

[eng] This study aims to offer a global analysis of the collections of proverbs composed by Ramon Llull (1232-1316). The Majorcan author wrote five books of proverbs during the last decade of the thirteenth century and the first of the fourteenth. Three of those only contain proverbs —Proverbis de Ramon (1296), Mil proverbis (1302) and Proverbis d’ensenyament (1299-1301? 1309?)—, while the Arbre exemplifical (1295-1296) is made up of brief stories and proverbs, and the Retòrica nova (1301) is a treatise that includes a little sequence of fifty examples in a section about the rhetorical use of proverbs. To carry out the analysis, we have first described the principal features of the gnomic and wisdom literature of the Middle Ages, with a special focus on the means used by the compilers to organize the proverbial materials and the contexts of reception of the collections. We have also explored the theoretical status of the proverbium and the sententia in medieval rhetorical tradition. Secondly, we have studied the Lullian proverb collections in the context of the evolution of his work and thought. We have noted that Llull wrote his proverbial books during a period of effervescence of the aphoristic and sententious thinking in his work. Finally, we have analysed the texts of the Lullian proverbial corpus monografically, focusing our attention on the context of the composition of the books, the structure and the purpose of the collections, the form of the proverbs and, in some cases, the reception of each of them. The second part of the thesis is devoted to philological editions of the Mil proverbis and the Proverbis d’ensenyament. In the first of these, we have to stress that our edition is the first one that takes into account the entire textual tradition preserved.
