Mind The Gap. Experiències i representacions contemporànies entorn del forat

Abstract

[cat] En aquest estudi utilitzo el forat com a leitmotiv per presentar un conjunt de propostes artístiques, que es generen des del compromís i la implicació social i política. M’interessa posar èmfasi en la recerca de sentit per mitjà de l’experiència i la representació visual contemporània, a partir de relacionar uns fets i unes situacions bàsicament urbanes, de caràcter local i d’altres de global amb propostes creatives. Després d’unes aproximacions prèvies al terme forat, els continguts s’estructuren al voltant de tres blocs: «1. Solars i descampats», que fa referència a espais urbans en situació d’entretemps, que surten momentàniament del sistema productiu i que habitualment són espais marginals, d’abandó i limítrofs; «2. Rastres de violència», en què sobretot s’analitza la representació visual contemporània a través de les empremtes d’actes violents, especialment els relacionats amb conflictes bèl·lics, i «3. Cos i forat», en el qual se cerquen relacions del cos amb el forat, en particular el cos en reclusió i el treball físic de l’acte de cavar. Aquest estudi es conclou, en forma d’epíleg, amb consideracions sobre l’obra artística pròpia, buscant el diàleg i la resignificació entre aquesta i els artistes i conceptes presentats en els tres blocs.

[eng] In this study, the hole as a leitmotif was used to present a set of artistic proposals that are generated from the commitment and the sociopolitical involvement. My interest is to emphasize the search for meaning through the experience and contemporary visual representation, based on the relation between primarily urban facts and situations at a local or global level. After some preliminary approaches to the hole concept, the contents are structured in three parts: «1. Lots and vacant lots», referring to urban spaces that are in between times, coming momentarily out of the productive system, and that are usually marginal, abandoned, and on the edges; «2. Traces of violence», mainly referring to the contemporary visual representation of violent events, especially those related to war conflicts; «3. Body and hole», where the intention is to relate body with the hole, in particular the body under reclusion and, on the other hand, the physical labor of the act of digging. This study concludes with an epilogue, seeking a dialogue and redefinition between my own artistic work, and the artists and concepts presented in the three previous sections.
