Abstract
[spa] En este artículo analizamos las causas de la relegación que sufrió el cuidado de las personas mayores durante la pandemia en España. Consideramos que la doble devaluación que sufren el cuidado y la vejez frágil está en la raíz de los problemas estructurales del sector de cuidados, condicionó las medidas de emergencia adoptadas y afectó el trabajo de las cuidadoras.
[eng] In this article, we look at the reasons why caring for the elderly was neglected during the pandemic in Spain. We argue that the fact that care and the frail old age are both socially undervalued explain the structural problems facing the care sector. It also affected the adopted emergency measures and had an impact on carergivers' work during that time.
