Abstract
[cat] Queerologia és un treball on es qüestiona el gènere i sexualitat normatius amb els que ens han educat. Està enfocat amb una visió des del present occidental cap al passat, fent una mirada cap a cultures que han existit i altres que encara evolucionen, per a veure expressions de gènere o de sexualitats diferents a les que pensem que són l’única opció i que ho han sigut durant tota la història de la humanitat.
A través d’aquesta retrospectiva fins a l’actualitat es fan un seguit de reflexions en les que autors com Foucault o Butler ajuden a entendre l’evolució d’aquests aspectes cap al nostre present, posant èmfasi en les identitats que sembla que sorgeixin en les últimes dècades.
La part creativa del treball desenvolupada a partir dels aspectes tractats es veu en la realització de les fotografies. Aquests conceptes s’il·lustren amb una sèrie de retrats que tenen com a objectiu la visibilització de les identitats sexuals i de gènere no normatives, i intentar obrir debats on sorgeixin reflexions entorn al tema i que d’alguna manera és com l’autor ha arribat a desenvolupar aquest treball.
Mitjançant la fotografia com a eina que s’utilitza constantment avui dia per a representar cossos, models i construccions d’identitat, es creen models inspirats en deïtats de cultures diferents les quals podríem relacionar amb la comunitat LGBTQ.
El concepte queer apareix constantment així com mitologia, i es que l’obra és un espai on conflueixen les mitologies amb les sexualitats i identitats de gènere perifèriques.
[eng] Queerology is a piece that challenges the normative notions of gender and sexuality that we have been brought up with. It presents a view of the past through a contemporary Western lens, exploring cultures from both past and present. The aim of this is to shine a light on different ways of looking at gender expressions, identities and sexualities which differ from todays’s more notions, those which we often see as our only options. This retrospection that culminates in the present introduces a series of reflections in which the voices of those such as Foucault and Butler help understand the evolution of those aspects, emphasizing those identities that appear to be new, when in fact the study of its history paints a much different picture. The creative part of this project can be appreciated in the production of the photographs. The main themes are illustrated in a portrait series, seeking to amplify the visibility of peripheral gender and sexualities identities, and encourage discussions on the topic, which in turn has inspired the author himself. Through the use of photography, a tool most commonly employed nowadays to represent bodies, roles and identity constructions, the models of the project are inspired by deities from different cultures whom we can relate to the LGBTQ community. In this work, queer is a recurrent concept together with mythology. This piece is a place where these two meet.
