[cat] "Venus Vetula" reinterpreta la figura clàssica de la Venus mitjançant la
representació de l'envelliment del cos femení. El projecte adopta una
mirada crítica, a través de la qual vol generar una anàlisi profunda de la
percepció occidental contemporània de la vellesa femenina i de les
diverses problemàtiques a què s'enfronta —especialment l’edatisme i la
gerontofòbia, fenòmens que es veuen accentuats per la misogínia i els
valors patriarcals de la nostra societat.
Tot plegat, l’obra s'arrela a l'experiència personal explorant l’autoretrat
escultòric per representar un procés d’envelliment hipotètic. Així, esdevé
tant un exercici d’autoacceptació com una reivindicació de la
representació real de les dones grans dins l'art i la cultura visual
contemporània.
[eng] "Venus Vetula" reinterprets the classical figure of Venus through the representation of the aging female body. The project adopts a critical perspective, through which it seeks to offer an in-depth analysis of the contemporary Western perception of female old age and the various issues it entails — particularly ageism and gerontophobia, phenomena that are further intensified by the misogyny and patriarchal values of our society. Rooted in personal experience, the work explores sculptural self-portraiture to depict a hypothetical aging process. In doing so, it becomes both an exercise in self-acceptance and a vindication of the real representation of older women within art and contemporary visual culture.
