[spa] En el presente trabajo nos detenemos en el episodio narrado en el libro sexto de la Farsalia de Lucano a propósito de un acto de adivinación nigromántica, atendiendo al rol que juega Sexto Pompeyo, hijo de Pompeyo Magno, en dicho ritual, así como a la construcción del personaje a nivel literario e historiográfico. Nuestro propósito es revisar este conocido pasaje y sintetizar las lecturas precedentes, para ofrecer así nuestra propia lectura, con el fin de elaborar una nueva y actualizada propuesta crítica basada en dos puntos clave: la elección de Sexto como protagonista de la escena y las posibles motivaciones del poeta para su elección.
[eng] In the present contribution we analyze an episode of the sixth book of Lucan's Pharsalia, where a necromantic act is described. We pay attention to the role played by Sextus Pompeius, Pompeius Magnus's son, as well as to the depiction of him as a literary and historiographic archetype. Our aim is to revisit this famous character and synthetize precedent readings in order to expose our own interpretation. By doing so, we offer an actualized critical reading upon the basis of two matters: Sextus's choice as the main character of the scene and the possible motivations of the author for this choice.
