[cat] El propòsit d’aquesta tesi és donar el lloc que mereix a Llorenç Villalonga en l’espai de la modernitat literària, un lloc sovint qüestionat en les lectures crítiques que se’n fan de la seves obres, que han generat una imatge de l’autor com a fonamentalment conservador i nostàlgic. Aquesta imatge és generada pels crítics a partir d'anàlisis genètiques i temàtiques de les seves obres i d’enunciats dels seus personatges, així com d'afirmacions emeses pel mateix autor en textos o paratextos diversos, sense tenir en compte el discurs que caracteritza les seves obres de ficció d’un autor ironista, com Villalonga.
Per a la consecució del nostre objectiu ens proposem analitzar des de l’anàlisi textual d’algunes de les seves obres més importants dos aspectes fonamentals en la seva obra. D’una banda, analitzem el tractament de la intertextualitat, que destaca en la seva escriptura per l'extensa xarxa de cites i referències que teixeix, i al mateix temps pels diàlegs incessants que desenvolupa al llarg de tota la seva trajectòria, especialment amb autors de la tradició francesa com Voltaire, Proust i George Sand. D’altra banda, i aquesta és una aportació innovadora del nostre treball, ja que no s’ha fet fins ara, analitzem el concepte d’ambivalència segons l’entén l’autor i que podem llegir en alguns textos en què en parla de manera més explícita, i això és, fonamentalment, seguint Freud, de qui era bon lector. L’ambivalència és així la coexistència simultània de dos sentiments oposats d’atracció i rebuig, com amor i odi, vers una mateixa persona o objecte.
A partir de la comprensió de l’ambivalència que llegim en Villalonga ens hem plantejat rastrejar-ne la presència de l’ambivalència com a estratègia textual en les seves obres. Així hem analitzat diversos aspectes de la seva escriptura i hem descobert com l’ambivalència juga un juga un paper destacat en el tractament de les tècniques narratives i els gèneres literaris, per la convivència paradoxal i xocant entre formes modernes i tradicionals, que mostra una atracció i un rebuig, al mateix temps, per formes de la modernitat literària i de la tradició. També en la seva darrera obra publicada, una obra que no ha estat objecte d’anàlisis en profunditat fins el moment, Un estiu a Mallorca, en un dels seus diàlegs francesos, estableix un joc intertextual sorprenent i ambivalent amb l’intertext, Un hiver à Majorque. És per això que proposem parlar d’una poètica de l'ambivalència en la seva escriptura.
[eng] The purpose of this thesis is to give Llorenç Villalonga the place he deserves in the space of literary modernity, a place often questioned in the critical readings that are made of his works, which have generated an image of the author as fundamentally conservative and nostalgic. This image is generated by critics based on genetic and thematic analisys of his works and statements of his characters, as well as statements issued by the author himself in various texts or paratexts, without taking into account the discourse that characterizes his works of fiction by an ironist author, such as Villalonga is. To achieve our goal, we propose to analyse two fundamental aspects of his work from a textual analysis of some of his most important works. On the one hand, we analyse the treatment of intertextuality, which stands out in his writing for the extensive network of quotations and references he weaves, and at the same time for the incessant dialogues he develops throughout his career, especially with authors of the French tradition such as Voltaire, Proust and George Sand. On the other hand, and this is an innovative contribution of our work, since it has not been done until now, we analyse the concept of ambivalence as understood by the author and that we can read in some texts in which he talks about in a more explicit way, and this is, fundamentally, following Freud, of whom he was a good reader. Ambivalence is thus the simultaneous coexistence of two opposite feelings of attraction and rejection, such as love and hatred, towards the same person or object. Based on the understanding of the ambivalence we read in Villalonga, we set out to trace the presence of ambivalence as a textual strategy in his works. Thus we have analysed several aspects of his writing and discovered how ambivalence plays a prominent role in the treatment of narrative techniques and literary genres, due to the paradoxical and clashing coexistence between modern and traditional forms, which shows an attraction and a rejection, at the same time, of forms of literary modernity. Also in his last published work, a work that has not been the subject of in-depth analysis until now, Un estiu a Mallorca, in one of his French dialogues, he establishes a surprising and ambivalent intertextual game with the intertext, Un hiver à Majorque . This is why we propose to talk about a poetics of ambivalence in his writing.
