The main idea of this project is to create a historical reenactment festival in Barcelona that values historical accuracy and prioritizes education and cultural dissemination. The festival includes a scientific conference which aims to legitimize historical reenactment as a scholarly subdiscipline and serve as a forum for sharing ideas and best practices between experts and academics. Additionally, with the implementation of this project, the festival aims to popularize historical reenactment as an educational tool in both formal and informal settings, get the publics more closely acquainted with the practice and establish best practices in Spain and worldwide. The idea to create a reenactment festival in Barcelona stemmed from a lack of big reenactment events in the city and the will to create a project that can be done by locals for the local publics. Therefore, the Museum of History of Catalonia came to mind as the candidate to organize a festival such as this: a museum that focuses on local history, has an established relationship with local publics and schools, is strategically located, has the infrastructure to support an event such as this and moreover, has already organized smaller scale reenactment demonstrations and performances that proved to be a hit among the attending publics. The next task would be to unite local reenactment groups of different time periods in order to come together and recreate history for the enjoyment of the public.ca
