Abstract
[spa]El castillo de Ribes es el monumento más grande y antiguo que posee el municipio de Sant Pere de Ribes. Su óptimo estado de conservación le convierte en un monumento de gran importancia, ya que se trata de una muestra gráfica del uso y la evolución de un tipo de fortaleza muy habitual durante los primeros siglos de la Baja Edad Media en Cataluña.
Sin embargo, el castillo aún no ha sido objeto de excavaciones, pero el esfuerzo del Ayuntamiento por preservarlo todo lo posible ha facilitado un único aunque muy completo estudio histórico-arqueológico por parte de las arqueólogas Jordina Sales y Natalia Salazar, en el cual se basa la mayor parte el trabajo presente.
Es por ello que son necesarios todavía más puntos de vista diferentes para poder llegar a entender la fortaleza en su totalidad. No sólo como edificio de interés arqueológico y como símbolo de una población, sino también como la fortaleza inexpugnable que fue en la época medieval en la que fue construido.
[eng]The Castle of Ribes is the largest and oldest monument of the municipality of Sant Pere de Ribes. Its excellent state of conservation makes it a monument of great importance, since it is a graphic example of the use and evolution of one kind of fortress very common during the first centuries of the High Middle Ages in Catalonia. However, the castle has not yet been excavated, but the City’s effort to preserve it as much as possible has facilitated a unique yet very complete historical-archaelogical study by archaeologists Jordina Sales and Natalia Salazar, on which is based most o the present work. It’s for this reason that even more points of view are necessary in order to be able to understand the fortress in its entirety. Not only as a building of archaeological interest and a as symbol of a town, but also as the impregnable fortress that was in the medieval period which it was built.
