Este trabajo proporciona, en primer lugar, una aproximación a la biblioteca del Archivo Diocesano de Barcelona en tanto que biblioteca auxiliar de un archivo histórico y por ello, biblioteca especializada que comparte con sus homólogas tanto los beneficios de contar con un fondo especializado, profesionales formados y usuarios exigentes como las problemáticas derivadas de la falta de reconocimiento y recursos. Problemáticas que afectan a la biblioteca en general y al fondo bibliográfico antiguo en particular. Dada su naturaleza patrimonial, el trabajo se centra, en segundo lugar, en los libros anteriores a 1820 conservados en la Biblioteca auxiliar.
This work proposes, in the first place, an approximation to the Auxiliary library of the Diocesan Archive of Barcelona as an auxiliary library of a historical archive and, hence, a specialized library. As a specialized library, it shares with its counterparts the benefits of having a specialized collection, educated professionals, and demanding users, as well as the problems resulting from the lack of recognition and resources. These problems affect the library in general and the old library fund in particular. Secondly, given its bibliographical heritage status, this work addresses the situation of the books stored in the auxiliary library published before 1820 and provides a description of said books.
